About OnlineEngineeringSchools.net

OnlineEngineeringSchools.net helps prospective students find and compare online engineering degrees offered by US universities — bachelor's, master's and PhD programs in 22 engineering majors. You can browse by degree level, major and the state where a school is based, see what each program requires in person (labs, campus visits, residencies, proctored exams, research), check which programs ABET's own database lists as accredited, read editorial selections with the evidence behind them, and compare up to four programs side by side without creating an account.

Online only, on purpose

The directory lists degree pathways that a university itself offers online. A university's general “online programs” page is not enough: each listing is confirmed on the degree's own official page. Ordinary campus degrees are not listed. Hybrid programs with regular in-person classes and Engineering Technology degrees appear only in separately labelled sections.

What we are — and are not

We are an independent directory. We are not a university, an accrediting agency, a state engineering board or an application-processing service, and we do not decide admissions or licensure eligibility. Apply directly on each university's official website, and confirm licensure questions with the engineering licensing board of the state where you intend to practice.

How the directory is built

Candidate schools come from federal IPEDS data on engineering programs offered at a distance, ABET's accredited-program database and our own research. A program is listed only after we confirm on the university's own pages its awarded degree, its major and its online pathway. Each fact — attendance, labs, credits, admissions, tests, deadlines, tuition, funding — carries the official page it came from and a verbatim quote that is re-checked on the live page before publication. ABET status comes from ABET's database and is matched program by program. Details are in our editorial methodology and on the data sources page.

Editorial independence

Directory pages are listed alphabetically by default. Our “Best” pages are editorial selections against published criteria, with evidence for every entry. Universities can buy clearly labelled sponsored placements; payment never changes facts, verification status, selections or the order of results. See the sponsorship disclosure.

Coverage

Coverage is partial and growing. We started with a bounded set of universities researched in depth and add more through the same verification workflow. Some majors have few or no verified online programs; we say so rather than filling the gap with campus programs. If an eligible online engineering degree is missing, tell us about it; if a fact is out of date, suggest an update.
